Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Event QR code?

An Event QR code encodes event details — title, start date and time, end date and time, location, and description — in the iCalendar (iCal) format. Scanning the code prompts the user to add the event to their native calendar app. No internet connection required.

Which calendar apps are supported?

iOS Calendar, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and any application that supports the .ics / iCal standard — which covers virtually every calendar app on iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows.

Is an end time required?

An end time is optional. If omitted, most calendar apps will create a single-day or zero-duration event. For accuracy it is recommended to include both start and end times.

How are time zones handled?

Times are stored in UTC inside the QR code. Enter your local date and time and the generator converts them to UTC automatically. Recipients in other time zones will see the event displayed in their local time by their calendar app.

Can I update the event details after printing?

Static Event QR codes cannot be edited after creation. If your event details change, regenerate the code and redistribute it. For an updatable event page, consider a dynamic URL QR code linked to an online event page.
